Original Saunders Brothers Mill

The History of Saunders Brothers

At the turn of the century, two enterprising brothers, Harry and Arthur Saunders, started a mill woodworking business in North Waterford, Maine making dowels from white and yellow birch. In 1916 after a fire destroyed the original mill, the Saunders Brothers moved to Westbrook, Maine. Currently, all our operations are under one roof in the village of Locke Mills in Greenwood, Maine.

Our hardwood comes from sustainable forests and is traditionally manufactured with Maine craftsmanship. We take pride in everything we make. Our custom finishes are not only beautiful and long lasting but safe in the food and toy industries. We are continually innovating new products to meet our customer's needs. When you want the best quality at the best price… turn to Saunders Brothers!
